Description of the wireless four-channel temperature recorder
The LB-524T4 GSM is a battery supplied recorder of four temperatures measured by Pt1000 external temperature sensors with platinum thermistors, which guarantees high measurement precision and wide range of measured temperatures (-200…+550°C). LB-524T4 is connected with a four-wire cable. According to a programmed time interval, the recorder switches-on the GSM/GPRS module and initiates communication with the LBX server (with the pre-configured IP address). The device is powered by easily exchangeable batteries or rechargeable batteries and/or external power source. When the primary power source is depleted, the GSM communication is halted, but the measurements and recording continue thanks to an integrated additional rechargeable long-lasting lithium battery. The measurement results and additional information are displayed continuously on LB-524T4 recoder LCD display.
Control of exceeded alarm thresholds of the wireless temperature recorder
Each of the four measured temperatures may be assigned with a lower and upper alarm threshold. When the measurement exceeds this range, an alarms is triggered. When the alarm threshold is exceeded, parameter measurements are carried out in 1-minute intervals, irrespective of the set measurement and recording times.
The alarm may also be triggered by switching-off the external power supply of the GSM LB-524T4 recorder, which makes it possible to use it to signal network power supply failure to the monitored devices (e.g.: refrigerators).
An additional feature of the alarm delay function enables the alarm to be triggered when the threshold is exceeded continuously beyond the set delay time.
The alarm also triggers an additional report from the LB-524T4 recorder to the server working under supervision of the SCADA LBX software (irrespective of the time interval for data transmission). The alarm may also trigger text messages with information about the alarm to a maximum of 4 pre-programmed mobile phone numbers.
Data transmission via GSM module of temperature recorder
In a typical application the recorder carries out measurements and records results in the memory over a set interval (ranging from 1 minute to 4 hours). Over the set interval the recorder switches on the GSM interface and transmits current and memory-stored measurement results onto a permanent public IP address of a computer with SCADA LBX software.
In the absence of a permanent IP address, it is possible to use an additional proxy LBX server. In particular, the clients using LB-524T4 recorders may employ a proxy server shared by LAB-EL. This server provides a proxy service between LB-524T4 recorders and any client’s computer with access to Internet, but without a public IP address.
The registration specifications and IP address of the LBX server to which the recorder should connect must be set during the device configuration. The configuration of the LB-524T4 recorder is performed via USB interface.
Measurement memory of the four-channel temperature recorder
The GSM LB-524T4 temperature recorder is equipped with a large memory for the storage of approx. 30,000 individual measurement results. For example: for the thermometer function only, with recordings set at 20-minute intervals, this is sufficient for over a year of recordings in one recording session. The data are stored in the memory and “overwritten”, which means that when the memory is full, the oldest recordings are deleted.
In the case of the GSM communication, the measurements are independently recorded in the LB-524T4 temperature recorder’s memory, and after the re-establishment of communication, the outstanding results are transmitted from the recorder’s memory to the data base of the SCADA LBX software that monitors the functioning of the LB-524T4 GSM recorder.
The LBX software makes it possible to work with many LB-524 GSM recorders concurrently.
Calibration certificate
Each wireless thermometer, as per order, may feature an individual calibration certificate issued by the LAB-EL Calibration Laboratory.
Application of the wireless four-channel temperature recorder
The LB-524T4 temperature recorder is designed for monitoring and documenting the course of technological processes in production facilities, warehouses and transportation — especially for pharmaceutical, medical and food industries. It is extremally useful in meeting the requirements for ISO and HACCP production quality control. It may be used to monitor temperature in vehicles, distribution warehouses, growing cellars, shipped packages, etc.The wireless four-channel temperature recorder supporting GSM transmission may perform temperature monitoring inside packages containing medicines, vaccines, food articles and other temperature-sensitive commodities during their transport via different transportation means—overland, by sea or air. Even if over a certain period of time there is no connection to the GSM network, after re-establishment of the network connection, the recorder will send all the overdue measurement results to the database served by the LBX software, and so no data will be lost. The LB-524T WiFi recorder/thermometer provides the safety requirements for the storage of vaccines, medicines and other temperature-sensitive products in the State Sanitary Inspection facilities, outpatient clinics, hospitals and pharmacies.

Extensions
Remark (*1): The given measurement range may be additionally limited by the parameters of the external sensor used.
Remark (*2): The battery is not subject to warranty.
Remark (*3): The instrument is by
default calibrated with the use of the standard resistor. All channels
are calibrated, irrespective of the number of installed probes. This
means that the user may at his own discretion connect an additional
thermometer and activate the input.
The given measurement uncertainty stems
from the use of a class B thermistor in the temperature sensor. In
the case of wider measurement ranges, the measurement uncertainty may
be corrected through an individual calibration of the thermometer in a
given channel with a concrete probe. Individual calibration is
available as an option, which should be indicated in the order or
ordered independently as a service. The service will be performed after
submission of the instrument to LAB-EL
Calibration Laboratory.
